Hideaki Hamada Children Photography | Haru And Mina

Hideaki Hamada was born in 1977, on the Aawaji Island, Japan. Today he lives in Osaka and is working as a photographer. His works have been published in Kinfolk magazine, Frame magazine and many more. After having some solo exhibitions in Asia and Europe, he published his first photo book “Haru and Mina” in 2012. “Haru and Mina” is also my favorite photo series of Hideaki as I was constantly smiling while looking at the lovely photographies he has taken of his two children. Hideaki about the photo series:

Ever since my two children were born, I have been taking picture of them. Haru and Mina. When I look at them through the finder, sometimes an illusion occurs that those figures are myself when I was a child. It is a strange feeling, like I am looking at myself living a life all over again, standing in close.

They live their ordinary lives with wonder, just as they are. Those figures might be a trigger for people to recall an universal memory of childhood, and think about their own future days. Photography is a gift to the future. When we think of that way, the figures in these pictures can be themselves, myself and yourself.

If you’re captivated like me, you can buy the photobook of Hideaki Hamada here. And I can only recommend to take a look his Instagram Profile, you won’t regret it.

Hideaki’s images are breath taking. I love the pictures of the boys… my favorite one is when they are trying to take a picture of the pidgin. You’re right.. they are captivating.

Such breathtaking photos. My favourites have to be the ones with the children – reminds me of a childhood that was so free and innocent!
