Born in 1980, Yacine Aouadi grew up with his Algerian family in northern Marseille, France. He leaves the family at the age of 25 to join the fashion school of Studio Bercot. After graduation, he was hired as a stylist by Maison Balmain and was working there with Christophe Decarnin and then Olivier Rousteing.
Today, lead by the desire to express himself other than through a design studio, Yacine Aouadi founded his own fashion brand, Aouadi Paris. And it already got noticed: Cate Blanchett and her stylist, Elizabeth Stewart, spotted it last season after his debut, and asked Yacine to custom-design a dress for the actress (dream job if you ask me) (you can see it here). His newest collection, Spring Couture 2016, showed 13 impressive pieces and I can’t wait to see what follows in the future.
This second collection bears the spirit of an encore of a premiere. A premiere Couture collection as “guest member”, and a premiere Spring/Summer collection. The “season of love…”, as its synonym, celebrates its naturalness through the prism of modernity, “…through “X”-ray”, like a play on words (and on transparency) with multiple meanings.
