I always feel super inspired when seeing design work by New York City based creative agency RoAndCo. It was about time to show at least one of their projects on the blog! The most recent one that caught my eye is the Art Direction for well known shoe and bag brand Loeffler Randall. Inspired by founder Jessie Randall’s refreshing palette and fresh Resort ’16 collection, RoAndCo created a visual narrative that brings the product’s sculptural motifs to life through art…
The 100 Day Project by Elle Luna has started again and this year I decided to join the party! My chosen topic is drawing plants – at least one plant each day for 100 days. Here on the blog I will be showing a couple of paintings and drawings from time to time, but certainly not all. Perhaps when the 100 days are over I will scan everything and put it up on my website. For now it’s all about…
Neighborwoods – City Coasters made of Engraved Wood Aymie Spitzer’s love of old world maps and hand lettering inspired her to create Neighborwoods as a lab project while she was working at Hyperakt, a Brooklyn design agency. There is something magical about early hand-drawn and hand-lettered maps and Aymie has attempted to capture that magic into wood with Neighborwoods. Every map is unique, just like your treasured stories from your neighborhood. All products are designed in Brooklyn and beautifully made…
I was introduced to the great work of Brian Rea thanks to a tweet by Timothy Goodman. Brian Rea produces drawings and paintings for magazines, murals, fashion and film projects around the world. On his website you can read that Brian lives in Los Angeles, California with his wife and his plants (I really love that he mentioned them as well). His work has been exhibited in Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Mexico City and Barcelona at the Fundació Joan Miro…

Marin et Marine – Sea Bags handcrafted in Germany This month I had the pleasure to interview the lovely twins Valérie and Caroline-Marine. In 2013 the two young women established MARIN ET MARINE, a sea bag label that concentrates on the simple but beautiful things in life. Their aim is to go back to the time where you only had a few items which were created with love and dedication and that often lasted a lifetime. The sea bags of MARIN ET MARINE…
Shugaa is a bar in Thailand where all you can get is dessert. And the interior design shows it as well! Design agency party / space / design from Bangkok found inspiration in sugar. More precisely, in sugar molecules and crystals. You can find sugar elements everywhere in the Shugaa dessert bar! There is a large wooden polygon construction attached to the storefront and a rose gold lighting installation hanging along the ceiling wall looking like massively enlarged sugar crystals. And…
Knobbly Studio – Modern Jewelry handmade in Israel Gittit Szwarc is the self taught jewelry designer behind Knobbly Studio and has an interesting story to tell! Her background is in martial arts and movement and she even was a Capoeira teacher before starting her jewelry brand. She also dabbled in mathematics, started studying psychology, but decided to leave school in her second year to start Knobbly. Her studio is located in a former garage in the Noga District in Jaffa, Israel.…
The newest COS summer campaign photos are strikingly beautiful. Natural materials like cotton and linen play an important role. As always COS worked with remarkable proportions, but there is still a certain fluidity which makes the forms appear much softer. I also really like the ice-grey knotted leather sandals for women that you can see in several of the pictures. The muted color palette speaks to me as well. Colors like sandstone, mushroom, cream, pearl and white seem to be…
Seeing Glass is a series of glass objects Sabine Marcelis and Brit van Nerven. The two designers worked together with glass specialists who allowed them to play around and experiment in their factory. They investigated new possibilities and through the use of materials, colour and layering, unexpected effects were created which play with ones visual perception as well as the surrounding space.…
