Neighborwoods – City Coasters made of Engraved Wood

Aymie Spitzer’s love of old world maps and hand lettering inspired her to create Neighborwoods as a lab project while she was working at Hyperakt, a Brooklyn design agency. There is something magical about early hand-drawn and hand-lettered maps and Aymie has attempted to capture that magic into wood with Neighborwoods. Every map is unique, just like your treasured stories from your neighborhood. All products are designed in Brooklyn and beautifully made by craftspeople with lasers in Miami.

Neighborwoods products are made with Aromatic Red Cedar plywood, which comes from the Western Red Cedar tree. The species is native to western North America, and specifically, to the Pacific Northwest. Western Red Cedar trees are huge! The wood that is used for Neighborwoods coasters is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council). FSC certification ensures that products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits. The rustic look of the reddish colored heartwood and its fresh natural scent help lend the coasters their heirloom charm.

All wood coasters are laser engraved and show 4 different neighborhood areas. The opposite side has the city’s name and established date. I’d love to get one for every city I’ve visited, but the coaster would also make a great gift for friends or family! You can purchase the city coasters here.

Alluring coasters.. and print on them is simply” wow”..!!! I used to have some wooden printed coasters but soon after a month or two ink start vanishing… and only plain wooden coasters left…. My experience with printed coasters was little bit awful….
