The Botanic Shelf – A multifunctional piece of furniture for your plants

The Botanic Shelf – A multifunctional piece of furniture for your plants

Pinja Rouger and Riikka Kantinkoski from Finland faced the same problem with their plants: The lack of light during winter time and also too little space in their apartments. The two friends decided to solve this problem themselves and came up with the idea of the Botanic Shelf.

The shelf is not only an appealing piece of furniture, but a multifunctional storage for the home’s green plants and other objects. The design is simple, modern and playful. Somehow it appears cozy and luxurious at the same time. The Botanic Shelf system consists of an oak frame and variable brass sheet shelves. The brushed brass shelves come in two different sizes and can be easily combined in many ways for different shelf options and looks. As some parts of the shelf surface are left open the furniture appears more light and it also gives more space and support for the bigger plants. The brass shelves are bended to tightly fit the shape of wooden frame but as the modules are unattached they slide easily across the structure enabling the multifunctional use.

That looks amazing. I love Finnish design, it’s so clean. Creating shifting shelves to accommodate plant growth is so cool.

Love this idea!!! Soon as I have more natural light in my home I definitely plan on doing this. I’m all about house plants but I get so little light in my home that it’s hard to keep plants. Soon!

    xoxo,
    Dannie

Oh I know this problem from my last home. As much as I loved this place, it had one window and I only could enjoy a little evening sun sometimes. I cross my fingers that your next place will be full of sunshine and plants 🙂

This shelf is absolutely gorgeous, and I love how it transitions so easily from light to dark and with various objects. Amazing!
