Knobbly Studio – Modern Jewelry handmade in Israel
Gittit Szwarc is the self taught jewelry designer behind Knobbly Studio and has an interesting story to tell! Her background is in martial arts and movement and she even was a Capoeira teacher before starting her jewelry brand. She also dabbled in mathematics, started studying psychology, but decided to leave school in her second year to start Knobbly. Her studio is located in a former garage in the Noga District in Jaffa, Israel. The neighborhood is a mix of independent designer studios, art galleries, cafés and more garages. All items are handmade in her Jaffa studio from locally sourced materials and with the help of her team.
The aspect that drives Gittit’s interest in jewelry is the way it interacts with the human form. When creating a new piece she always wonders what it will look like to someone looking at the wearer from an angle? How will it move when she is moving? How does it relate to the natural lines of her face, collarbone, torso?
