Arela Spring-Summer 2016 collection is based on the solid, comforting feeling of being alone, yet together. It is that afternoon moment spent with a loved one, each doing their own thing, in solitude, in silence. It is to be alone in a crowd, in a city, in a forest, yet feeling safe and looked-after. It is not about being lonely – it’s about being alone, together.
The collection is based on easy and trusted warm weather basics in solid colours and stripes. Cotton jersey and lightweight eyelet cotton accompany cotton-cashmere knits. The colour palette consists of cool, pale, washed-out tones and rich, burnt shades.
Working with high-quality natural materials, Arela creates contemporary yet timeless understated clothes and accessories. Considered colours and functionality are defining design elements. The modern, long-lasting cashmere knits have gained a loyal following. Arela is a family business based in Finland and run by Maija Arela and her daughters Anni and Viivi. The clothes are not designed for a particular woman or man, but rather to all shapes, sizes and styles unified by a certain minimalistic sensibility.
